So it looks like this is what went down: If you were followed by one of the main pages you are now followed by all of its associated sub-blogs.
I am so happy we are no longer oppositelock.jalopnik.com.

I realized that I was already followed by most of them. Which is surprising, because I rarely comment on the main blogs.

I think I was followed by a sub-blog but not the main page, so it would appear it doesn’t work in reverse.

No comprendo. What does it mean to be followed by someone? Do you get notices of when they post new stuff? And if so, what's the big deal? I have 6 or 7 notices about being followed by blogs I've never been on.

It should mean that you can post there now as a great un-greyed one.

AFAIK following people does absolutely nothing, other than scaring them. Being followed by a blog means you can comment on it.

I got all the sub-blogs unlocked, but somehow got Deadspin too. Perhaps because I was un-greyed on at least one Deadspin sub-blog.

I’m actually kind of glad that finally happened.
It’s been ridiculous that I was in the grays on a couple Jalop sub blogs after all this time and commenting.

Funny you should say that. Just got a notification that NSA is following me.
Dark humor.

The only Jalopnik sub-blog that I was still grey on (before today) was Buyer’s Guide. (I don’t comment on those articles very often.)
*shrug* Nice to be approved for it, though. I’m more excited about finally getting out of the grey on places like Sploid and Two Cents.

Yeah, it was buyers guide and black flag that i needed. Black Flag was surprising as I’ve commented quite a few times and even had the authors star my comments before.

Buyer’s Guide was the only one I was missing as well. I forgot it existed, it never interested me.

Huh. I guess maybe it depends on if your comment was still grey when they starred it. If someone else brought it out of the grey with a star or reply, the author might not have even noticed that you’re not yet followed by the blog.

Same here. I don’t have the budget for buying new cars, so I rarely have anything to say about those things.

I think it was gray when the authors starred it. who knows.
Maybe I’m just not as popular as I thought.
Maybe they left me in the grays to keep my ego in check.

I would like to be followed by a couple of the main pages, but alas that is not the case. Particularly Gizmodo and Deadspin, as they have some interesting sub blogs. Oh well.

I’m not into sports, so I’m afraid I don’t care about Deadspin very much.
However, I did leave a grey comment on Adequate Man last week. It was on an article of Raph’s, which had been shared to Jalopnik. The odd thing is, the article was totally car-related . I dunno why it wasn’t posted to Jalopnik, then shared to AM. (Come to think of it, Deadspin posts some motorsport stuff that gets shared to Jalopnik. You’d think it ought to show up on Black Flag first, and get shared to Deadspin...)
Doesn’t matter. Raph liked what I had to say, and brought it out of the grey. I don’t comment on Deadpsin enough to really justify a follow anyway.
